Communications & Digital Economy Minister tasks NIGCOMSAT on effective service delivery

The Minister of Communications & Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali (Pantami), has tasked the Management and Staff of the Nigerian Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) Limited, to be more productive  and provide efficient services to make the company more viable.

The Hon. Minister gave the advice in recently when he declared open a 3-day Board Management Strategic retreat of NIGCOMSAT with the theme, “Restructuring NIGCOMSAT Limited for the next level”

Dr. Pantami charged NIGCOMSAT Ltd to think innovatively, ‘act professionally, deliver efficient services and improve’ its visibility across the Country.

He said “visibility means why you should exist, what service do you offer, NIGCOMSAT should be a household name”, adding that “in the ICT cycle, innovative ideas are needed, we should not be dogmatic, reading is very critical to success”.

Dr.  Pantami urged NIGCOMSAT to build around performance, image and exposure, stressing that they are the three keys to career success if followed devotedly.

According to him, “this very important company is in dilemma, most importantly due to the debate either privatization or commercialization. NIGCOMSAT should be given another chance to improve the commercialization.

“We all know that the reason why the debate came up; if this company has been very viable definitely the issue may not come. But looking at the challenges that is why from time to time, such kind of issues emerge.

“The only way you can do to support me and make my efforts very effective is to try and turn things around and make sure that government realises how important this company is particularly in terms of commercial activities.” The Minister said

The Chairman of the Board of NIGCOMSAT, Dr. George Mogalu who emphasised on the importance of the retreat said that  “Naturally, there are challenges but challenges are meant to be surmounted. As we get along as an organization, the challenges we meet on the road, we will surmount them. There is the determination to surmount them and change the story of NIGCOMSAT

He also restated the importance of company saying that, “We realized that NIGCOMSAT is a critical national assets most importantly. The important thing there is, the organization has to be made more viable to be put on the path of sustainability so that those of us who are on the part of commercialization will have enough justification to conform our position in line with the wishes of the minister.”                                                                           

Also, the Managing Director of NIGCOMSAT, Dr. Abimbola Alale, in her welcome address said, “I indulge every one of us to participate actively in order to achieve our set target in promoting visibility, ensure great improvement in quality of service and reduce the access gaps in the rural and under-served areas.
