The Managing Director/Chief Executive of NIGCOMSAT, Abimbola Alale, together with some Executive Management and staff of NIGCOMSAT, paid a visit to the headquarters of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) to congratulate the new NSE President, Engr. Adekunle Mokuolu, FNSE on his investiture as the 31st President of the NSE. The visit also offered an opportunity for the team to improve on the existing business relationship between the two organisations and collaborate on rural development projects initiated by the NSE.
The NSE President, who received the NIGCOMSAT team Tuesday, January 30, 2018, disclosed plans to flag off a robust rural infrastructure development programme tagged ‘ENGINEERING INFRASTRUCTURE FOR UNITY AND PROGRESS IN NIGERIA.’ He said the projects tailored towards improving the living condition of the rural populace, are crucial and need to be prioritized.
The President also discussed the economic impact that the programme will make at the grassroots level. The President noted that modern technology was required at the rural areas to keep the populace informed in order for them to be in tune with the level of advancement generally.
In response, the NIGCOMSAT boss reiterated the willingness of her company to partner with NSE on the provision of information technology infrastructure and many other essential projects. She bemoaned the slow pace of broadband penetration in the rural areas in Nigeria, urging for immediate steps in the direction of making such facility available as part of the effort aimed at halting rural-urban migration.
Ms Alale also informed the NSE President of the readiness of NIGCOMSAT to partner with NSE on training and job creation for engineers.
